    Description

    We are dedicated to surprising and delighting the target audiences (no matter the budget) through everything from traditional :60 spots to social shareables to online content. The successful candidate will be experienced at editing and producing video content and/or advertising spots as well as managing production and post-production teams. This is a hybrid position requiring the candidate to plan, budget and manage video projects from inception through production and post-production, and work collaboratively with our in-house creative, strategic, research and digital teams to produce impactful campaigns for our clients. The candidate will work with and grow a network of production and post-production freelancers to aid in executing projects that require outside support. This candidate will also be responsible for managing the current in-house video team and guiding the strategic growth of our video department.

    The Video Editor will play a key role in structuring visual stories that support American University (AU)’s strategic mission and advance institutional marketing and communication objectives. We are a nimble and award-winning in-house production facility- we create a wide range of promos, thirty second to two-minute commercials, mini-documentaries, recruitment and fundraising videos and branded content for broadcast, the web, live events and social media. Many of our films serve a meaningful purpose by promoting social change within the field of higher education and the DC, MD, VA region- your work will have a direct impact on improving the world we live in. This position is responsible for all areas of post-production including: assembly, motion graphics design, compositing, 3D modeling, sound mixing and color correction. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintenance of post-production and NAS server equipment, as well as assist in all aspects of video production (lighting, cameras, sound recording, set design, etc.). The Editor will manage the University B-Roll website and branded graphics assets, and will collaborate with video team members and campus colleagues to determine best practices and brand standards as they relate to video and film production. 


    Educational Requirements: 

    A Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Production, Art, or Film Production is preferred. 

    Minimum Requirements: 


    Three to four years work-related experience is required, with a minimum of two years experience editing multimedia 

    Demonstrated proficiency in video editing, animation, motion graphics, sound design, and video compression codecs (specifically: R3D .mov, and .mp4) 

    Advanced knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and plugins including: Premiere Pro, Prelude, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Red Giant plugin suites 

    Experience with Maxon Cinema 4D & REDCINE-X, design, typography, and color theory 

     Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and basic web design

    The Shakespeare Theatre Company, located in downtown Washington DC, seeks an Assistant Audio/Video Supervisor. This position is primarily tasked with ensuring oversight, maintenance, and optimized use of the company’s +$2million audio/video inventory. This includes all equipment in the Harman and Lansburgh theatres, as well as all projectors and video equipment, paging systems, intercom systems, monitor systems, and associated cable infrastructures in both spaces. Additionally, this position fills a range of supervisory, operational, and support roles throughout the sound / video department. These roles include show operations; running sound and/or video for rental and internal events; load-in and load-out planning and execution, production engineering support, labor management, and scheduling. As the position may involve the running of events, the employee will sometimes work evening and weekend hours, and may potentially work over 40 hours per week, especially during the two weeks of load in and technical rehearsals.

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre or Sound with specific training in sound system engineering/design is required, as well as 4 years in sound engineering at a LORT level or on touring productions and experience with multi-projector systems in a theatrical setting preferred. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills: knowledge of sound and video system design and ability to troubleshoot those systems; familiarity with how to run both analog and digital sound consoles; Clearcom and other intercom systems (wired and wireless); Qlab playback program; Digital Audio Workstation programs for both PC and Mac (i.e., Sound Forge, Cool Edit Pro, Digital Performer, Pro Tools); RF technology and theory (specifically, wireless microphones). Video system implementation and programming of Watchout, QLab, and editing software like Final Cut Pro; understanding and implementation of proper soldering techniques, specifically simple electronic repairs and cable construction; acoustical engineering and critical listening skills (i.e., towards sound system balancing and equalization); understanding of the physics of sound and basic electrical principals; knowledge of recording techniques for a wide variety of subjects and locations and familiarity with a wide variety of microphones; basic knowledge of drafting and CADD programs, with specific training in reading and creating sound system signal-line diagrams; understanding of theatrical rigging with specifically knowledge in hanging loudspeakers and projectors.

    The Digital and Print Designer creates and manages multimedia projects for use on the organization’s website, in-person events, educational opportunities, and other venues that support the organization’s membership and promotes its mission, message, and brand.  The Designer collaborates with internal staff and external resources (freelancers and vendors) to imagine, develop and implement design projects related to educational, promotional, and explanatory activities, and manages projects from start to finish.

    The Maryland Judiciary's Office of Communications and Public Affairs is seeking an experienced Media Developer to join their team.


    Essential Functions:
    Develops and produces court-related video productions and multimedia projects for programs and educational purposes.  Authors computer applications for interactive training and testing.  Shoots and edits footage utilizing Canon Digital Cinema and Panasonic P2 cameras and Avid and Adobe editing software.  Provides professional group, portrait and event photography and audio/visual support for the Judiciary.  Conceptualizes and creates 2D and 3D motion graphics and visual effects for Judiciary projects utilizing After Effects and other multimedia software.  Provides computer-based DVD authoring for projects.  Sets up audiovisual equipment in support of various court-related agencies.  Utilizes professional media production equipment in designing, producing and printing posters and brochure graphics.  Provides graphics, photographs and designs concepts for the Judiciary’s web site.  Maintains video library records for the Media Department and other court-related agencies.  Converts existing media for judiciary programs and events into archived streaming web files utilizing specially designed computer systems and Windows Media producer software.  Videotapes judicial projects and programs for court-related agencies and television broadcast.  Performs all other duties as assigned.
