TELEVISION, INTERNET & VIDEO ASSOCIATION OF DC, INC. |
Entries under the regular production and skills categories must represent work completed between June 2017 and December 2019.
Entrants must have lived or worked in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania or Delaware during the time stipulated above.
All submissions must be accompanied by payment and meet eligibility and deadline requirements prior to being accepted for judging.
Re-submissions are permitted within the two-year window as long as the works being submitted have not won a Peer Award in previous years.
College student productions include work submitted by individuals enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate college/university program. Other than actors, all members of the production team must have been college students when the work was produced. Any student work produced as work-for-hire (i.e., where the student was paid) is not eligible.
High school productions include work submitted by individuals enrolled in high school when the work was completed. Other than actors, all members of the production team must have been high school students when the work was produced.
Entry discounts are available to active TIVA members — discount codes will be provided to members in good standing. (Use of TIVA-specific discount codes by non-members may result in disqualification.) If you are interested in joining TIVA, you can access the Join/Renew Membership option at the TIVA website, tivadc.org. Once you sign up as a member, you will be eligible to receive member discount rates.
All entries must be submitted via the FilmFreeway site unless technical constraints prohibit it (e.g., in the case of interactive submissions or special sound mixes). For those specific categories, contact us for submission options; judges will convene offline for evaluation. Otherwise, the system allows for video files hosted on Vimeo or YouTube in addition to locally on FilmFreeway.
Longer entries will be screened for a minimum of 10 minutes. Entrant should indicate a starting point for judges’ review as part of their submission notes.
Entries with audio tracks other than English must be subtitled with clear instructions on how to access the subtitles.
Each program from a series is considered a separate entry.
Final determination of eligibility, and/or whether an award will be bestowed in any category, is at the sole discretion of the judging panel and/or the TIVA-DC Board of Directors.
TIVA-DC reserves the right to verify the budget for any entry submitted in a category that is broken into budgetary sub-categories.
We want to make sure we answer any questions you may have. For technical questions, email to PeerEntries@TIVADC.org. For general questions, email PeerAwards@TIVADC.org. For questions about the Peer Promise program, email PeerPromise@TIVADC.org.
All entries (hereafter referred to as the “Work”) via this submission system are for consideration of the Work or my artistic and/or technical contribution to the Work for an award in TIVA-DC’s annual Peer Awards.
This Award Submission Release and License is being executed solely for the purpose of granting TIVA-DC, its agents and those it designates, the nonexclusive right to copy the Work or excerpts thereof, in order to perform the Work or excerpts thereof at the TIVADC Peer Awards ceremony and, in TIVA-DC’s sole discretion, to reproduce excerpts from the Work in an audiovisual compilation of Peer Award entries for distribution free of charge to attendees of the TIVA-DC Peer Awards ceremony and/or to members of TIVA-DC regardless of whether or not they attend the TIVA-DC Peer Awards ceremony.
Further, I grant TIVA-DC, its agents and those it designates, the nonexclusive right to use my name and any other names or associated information that I have entered on the instant Peer Awards Entry Form in connection with such audiovisual compilations to enable my contribution to the Work to be identified. I warrant and represent that I have made the contribution to the Work indicated on the Peer Awards Entry Form, and that all information stated on the Peer Awards Entry Form is as it should appear in connection with the Peer Awards ceremony, on any certificate(s) and/or award(s) that may be bestowed on me or the Work in connection with the Peer Awards competition, and on the audiovisual compilation. In the event that my name or any other identifying information regarding the Work are erroneously omitted or misstated at the Peer Awards ceremony, on any certificate(s) or award(s) or in connection with the audiovisual compilation of Peer Awards entries, I hold TIVA-DC, its agents and those it designates harmless and waive any claims against them for such error or omission, and my sole remedy shall be for TIVA-DC to post a correction on the appropriate page of its website, www.tivadc.org. I understand and acknowledge that TIVA-DC may replace a certificate or award bestowed on me or the Work, only if it determines, in its sole discretion, that it, its agents or those it designates, were at fault for the omission or misstatement.
I agree that TIVA-DC is under no obligation to engage in any of the foregoing activities and may, in its sole discretion, refuse to reproduce and/or distribute the Work, may edit excerpts for length, and may exclude any portion of the Work that TIVA-DC reasonably and in good faith believes may subject any person to legal liability.
I warrant and represent that I have the authority and own all rights necessary to grant the licenses set forth in this Award Submission Release and License, and affirm that I either own the copyright(s) in the Work or that I have obtained valid permission from the copyright owner(s) to authorize TIVA-DC to engage in the activities described herein, and that those activities will not violate the rights of any third parties. I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TIVA-DC, its agents and/or those it designates against any and all claims, liability, monetary awards and reasonable attorney’s fees arising out of any breach of this warranty.
I agree that upon submission of the Work, that copy becomes the sole property of TIVA-DC, which may, in its sole discretion, maintain the copy, dispose of the copy, or return the copy to me (if provided on CD or DVD).
