The Television, Internet and Video Association of DC (TIVA-DC), a local not-for-profit (501(c)(3)) organization was formed to serve the needs of the growing greater DC production community, including Maryland and Virginia. Focused on the burgeoning local market, TIVA offers an entrée into a world of career opportunities, new-industry technology seminars, educational outreach, mentoring and award ceremonies.
TIVA-DC has deep roots in the local media production community. Its membership came from the DC chapter of the natonal organization founded in 1970 as the National Industrial Television Association (NITA), which became the International Television Association (ITVA) in 1978. In 2001, the national organization (ITVA) changed its name again to the Media Communication Association (MCA-I), but the DC chapter, ITVA-DC, decided against change and kept its name. In late 2007, at the request of its parent, MCA-I, their DC chapter changed its name from ITVA-DC to MCAI-DC. At that time, the local members of ITVA-DC opted for independence and joined TIVA-DC while the MCA-I members remained in MCAI-DC.
The mission of TIVA-DC is to connect the media production community to jobs, resources and educational opportunities in the National Capital region. Our primary initiatives to support our mission are:
