TELEVISION, INTERNET & VIDEO ASSOCIATION OF DC, INC. |
The Peer Awards began in 1997 as part of the former Washington Film and Video Council (WFVC) and later merged with the existing, popular “ITVA-DC Video Festival.” Today, the TIVA-DC Peer Awards continues to celebrate local excellence in media and offer one of the most sought-after awards in our community. The 2018 Peer Awards Ceremony was held at the NATIONAL PRESS CLUB on Saturday, November 17, 2018, with an extended reception/networking hour, starting at 6:30 pm. The TIVA-DC Peer Awards is a merit-based award judged solely on the individual merits of the entry. This is not a competition, rather an acknowledgment and celebration of exceptional quality work created by professionals and non-professionals in the Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania or Delaware region. This may result in categories receiving multiple awards of the same level as well as some categories without awards. |
All Gold Award recipients receive a TIVA-DC Peer Award trophy the night of the ceremony. And — new this year — we will be hosting a LIVE SCREENING EVENT of select Gold Award winners, the 1st Annual TIVA Peer Awards Festival of Excellence on April 14, 2020. All Silver and Bronze recipients receive an embossed certificate suitable for framing. Additional Gold trophies as well as Silver and Bronze trophies and/or certificates may be ordered for a nominal fee after the ceremony. A special discount period will be offered for trophy/certificate orders immediately following the ceremony. All award recipients will be honored at the Peer Awards Ceremony and listed on the Peer Awards website along with clips of their entries where permitted.
A panel of distinguished judges are selected on a volunteer basis based on stringent standards that include relevant background, demonstrated expertise and established standing in a category field for which an industry expert is judging. Judges are drawn from industry professionals in the Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware region.
Entries are carefully judged on rigorous and category-specific criteria and are handled through a carefully guided process in order to ensure consistency, critical thinking and informed peer review, which results in a well-earned award of merit and excellence in achievement.
