TELEVISION, INTERNET & VIDEO ASSOCIATION OF DC, INC.
The 23rd Annual TIVA Peer Awards Gala Ceremony and Peer Awards Festival Showcase dates are just around the corner. That’s right — you did not miss the standard November calendar date for the Peer Awards: the Peer Awards Gala is happening in the Spring of 2020! So now is the time to get your submissions listed. They don’t even need to be finished yet, but an entry needs to be registered now: the regular deadline for entries is November 30, and the drop-dead date for late entries is December 31.
We listened to a lot of great input regarding the 2018 Peer Awards and responded this year with the new idea of moving the Peer Awards date to the Spring of 2020 and adding another new event on a separate date: the Peer Awards Festival Showcase, which will take place several days after the Peer Awards Gala. At The Peer Awards Festival Showcase we will present the full-length versions of those submissions that were awarded with Gold status recognition, along with hosting a Directors’ Roundtable discussion of best practices and “behind-the-production” insights and several other special events.
The submission process also changed, with our adoption of FilmFreeway as the new platform through which submissions are entered (and judged). This daring move actually saved on what would have been newly introduced and prohibitively expensive operational costs if we had stayed using the old system. FilmFreeway also gave us the advantage of many marketing options which we didn’t have before. (Take a look at the special article in this newsletter to learn more about the FilmFreeway submission process and the rationale behind our decision to switch.) We are in the process of receiving many submissions — which are up from last year — and will continue to accept submissions until the end of December of 2019. Now is the time to submit!
With the inclusion of more entries in VR, Augmented Reality, podcasting and other “new media,” this year’s gala celebration and awards ceremony promises to be as exciting and eventful as it has been for the past 22 years. We anticipate this year will be a larger event, given the additional months we have had to promote submissions and the new date in the Spring (look for a special announcement very soon!) which will allow for a longer period of time to promote ticket sales and a much easier time for people to attend, since we are not competing with the holiday vacation absences and the busy event calendar that traditionally takes over the Washington, D.C. region in November and December.
The TIVA Peer Awards are your chance to reconnect with folks you may have worked with and haven’t seen for a while, and to present the best of your creative thinking. They are also an opportunity to be judged by a carefully vetted community of your peers and possibly return home with rightfully earned recognition. Peer Awards recognition is a coveted and special honor, and we are thrilled with the new ideas that we have adopted this year in planning this unique “one-of-a-kind” regional celebration of excellence in achievement.
We are seeing old and new sponsors responding now with their support. And so now is the time to secure your sponsorship and partner with TIVA to make sure your brand, name and company are front and center when the curtains come up and the award recipients are announced. (Contact me at email@example.com so that we can get a Sponsor Benefits packet to you).
Each award — whether Bronze, Silver or Gold — matters. Each level of recognition gives you an opportunity to celebrate your good work, strengthen a relationship with a client and position yourself with the prestige and pride that the award signifies. Look for updates on the exciting new location we are working on soon!
Bold new ideas and creative planning are the signature guideposts that we have adopted for coordinating the upcoming 23rd Annual TIVA Peer Awards and The Peer Awards Festival Showcase. I hope they are an inspiration for you to submit your own bold new ideas and creative planning with your entry today.
