ITVA-DC has a long and distinguished history in Washington, DC. Its national organization began as the National Industrial Television Association (NITA) in 1970. In 1978, it changed its name to the International Television Association (ITVA), and in 2001 to the Media Communications Association-International (MCA-I). In late 2007, at the request of its parent, MCA-I, their DC chapter changed its name from ITVA-DC to MCAI-DC. At that time, the local members of ITVA-DC opted for independence and joined TIVA-DC while the MCA-I members remained in MCAI-DC. Although we operate as separate organizations, TIVA-DC recognizes MCAI-DC members and welcomes them with full membership privileges.
