About the Peer AwardsThe Peer Awards began in 1997 through the efforts of several board members of the former Washington Film and Video Council (WFVC). Their intent was to provide well-deserved recognition to those media production professionals who create the outstanding work that consistently comes from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. After WFVC folded in 2000, the competition was ultimately combined with ITVA-DC's existing festival. Today, the Peer Awards continue to celebrate local excellence in media and offer one of the most sought-after awards in our community.
